Hamidreza Ghotbi’s movie grabbed awards for the best feature film and best audiences’ choice at the second edition of the festival.
‘That Night’s Train’ was the only film that managed to win two awards at this event.
The film has so far participated and won awards at various international film festivals in Germany, Spain, the Netherlands, Greece, China and India.
The 85-minute movie tells the story of a little girl who meets a female writer on a train.
The writer promises to call and visit her later. The promise, in the writer’s mind, is just a theme for her new story, but so serious for the little kid.
To overcome the sadness, the kid endures, her father who is an author himself comes to rescue.
The events that follow make the border between reality and fantasy blurry and obscure.
Afshin Hashemi, Siamak Safari, Behnaz Naderi, Maryam Boubani, and Bahram Shakeri star in the film. “The Muslim International Film Festival (MIFF) was founded with one vision in mind: to provide a platform for the current and aspiring filmmakers, videographers, designers, creatives, media junkies and moviegoers to portray Muslim excellence on the big screen.
As an international platform, the MIFF aims to include and showcase the diverse voices of anyone whose mind is bursting with a story and a dream to bring it to life,” the official website of the event wrote.
This year’s edition of the festival was held on October 1-2 in Toronto, Canada.
